What should I expect from the MSK service?
At your first appointment you will be clinically assessed. You will be asked questions about your symptoms and may be required to carry out a number of movements to determine the cause of pain.
What shall I wear to my appointment?
During your assessment you might be required to carry out a number of movements to determine the cause of your pain. Therefore we recommend you wear suitable loose fitting clothing, such as t-shirt, shorts, jogging bottoms and underwear that you are comfortable being assessed in.
Where will I be seen?
The clinics are spread across Airedale, Wharfedale and Bradford. You will be offered the earliest appointment available, but if this is not convenient or you need to change the location, contact us and we will give you a choice of venues so you can choose a location which is best for you.
Who will I see at my appointment?
You will see one of the musculoskeletal team, who are all experienced.
What age groups do you treat?
This service is only available to patients over the age of 12.
What if the patient has additional needs?
If the patient is vulnerable, has a disability, or mobility problems, please advise us when you book the appointment.
What if I need an interpreter?
If you need an interpreter please advise us which language when you book your appointment.
What if I need to go to hospital for further tests or investigations?
If it is necessary for you to have an operation or see a consultant at a hospital, this will be discussed with you. You will then be able to choose which hospital you wish to be treated in and a referral will be arranged through our support team.
Generally all requests for x-rays or scans go to either Airedale or Bradford Hospital.
What if I need to change my appointment?
Keep us informed if you need to change or cancel your appointment.
Please call the service at least 48 hours prior to your appointment, so it can be offered to someone else. This keeps waiting times low and helps reduce NHS costs.
What if I don’t attend my appointment?
If you Do Not Attend (DNA), or you are late to your appointment without notifying us, you may not be seen or may be discharged from the service.
